Quite simply does anyone here use one as their go-to sidearm? 

I know the 1911 style guns tend to perform slightly worse due to the slim single-stack mags. Is that the case with this?

I haven't seen it fully put through it's places. It has got the 15mm piston in it's favour. I did notice when I had the black and a silver 226 years ago the metallic finishes do suffer cool down more. That said you could get a black one. Otherwise there's the uspc if you want a similar size pistol hammer fired pistol that you can rely on.
