TM P226 Metal Upgrade

Howdy. Sorry if this is something posted a lot, or in an existign thread I could seek out but couldn't find when searching - I want to upgrade my old TM P226 E2 to metal. It was retired as myh main smkirmish duty pistol and now I kind of want it to be my fancy personal sidearm, and have a nice heft and feel to it.

I can't find the PCG (PGC? Whichever it is) metal kits people keep recommending, they seem extinct, so I may just go with guarder. A friend is going to do the actual work for me because I'm both lazy and dyspraxic (AKA clinically clumsy) so I don't want to mess it up.

A. Is there actually any better metal kits people would recommend? I want to keep it two tone (silver slide, black  frame), as the plastic one is that way due to being a frankengun built out of 2 broken guns and a smattering of aftermarket parts. It already has a lightweight BBU and a bunch of other stuff AFAIK. I can buy a guarder silver slide and guarder black frame seperately, but if there is really anything better than guarder, do let me know.

I also added the guarder steel barrel to the list - Is there any other ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY upgrades for switching to a metal kit? Or is everything more just suggested.

Also, where can I get the grip screw bushigns or whatever, to fit a standard grip to the E2 frame? I have some real wood grips I want to fit, they may need adjusting but also I need to be able to screw the buggers on.

The prime (PGC) kits were the gold standard back in the day. It’s worth checking with some of the Hong Kong retailers if they have one squirrelled away somewhere.

the guarder P226 kits are fine*. I’ve fitted a few in my day and they’ve all been good in the end.

*as long as you’re a decently experienced tech with a lot of patience and a very good dremel kit. It’s lots of sanding, refitting, checking alignment and repeating every fraction of a mm.

I’d recommended the guarder enhanced spring set as well.
