Hey guys, i am new to the airsoft world and i am starting to buy my gear, i already have my boots and british DPM Jacket and trousers, now looking for eye and face protection and came across this

http://www.military1st.co.uk/40921-swiss-e...gles-black.html

any thoughts on this mask, cant seem to find any reviews on it.

p.s i can get it for around £40 new

thanks

Just looking at it, and having tried neoprene for a whole game before I ditched it I would say you will get VERY hot. It will also steam up like a beeeatch as there does not seem to be many vents and its polarized black, which may look cool, but you will see bugger all in the winter, and boil in the bag in the summer.

So In summary, if you are into S&M, it might be a goer, but remember your "safe" word. (if on a public, or corporate network ffs do not google that!)

For airsofting it will be very hot, very dark and not practical.

If you are after full face protection then try one of the mask systems or try a mesh face protector and some sort of glasses or goggles (mesh or lenses is up to you.)

mesh face protector, can be had cheaper on ebay

Coupled with any sort of glasses/goggles

Or go for something like

http://www.airsoftworld.net/protective-eqp...ask-silver.html

or

http://www.airsoftworld.net/protective-eqp...ace-shield.html

not very helpful, but hopefully the suggestions may help

if you want mesh goggles the you HAVE to use

http://www.heroshark.co.uk/

Had some for years, been shot a lot and still fine, no problems and a lot better vision than the ACM (Chinese) ones.

hi there thanks for your advice, i liked the look off the swiss eye, (not into S&M lol) dont want to bake to death so will give it a miss, the heroshark mesh mask looks really good, will check it out, for goggles i prefer the non mesh type, any recommendations which can also fit over glasses?

thanks.

I would always go for a mesh mask, unless its a well ventilated lens system. I've seen goggles that have fans built in to stop them steaming up. It works too! But it is noisy so being a quiet assassin is out of the picture. Basically shep is right. Most people avoid neoprene because it looks tacky, uncomfortable and it doesn't protect your face as much as you would like. Its basically an extra layer of skin so you still feel the impact, just not as much. With mesh the bb usually never comes into contact with your skin and most people prefer that. I also have a hard plastic mask which gets pretty hot in the summer, but still manageable.

Short answer is, anything but neoprene! :)

If you have glasses your best bet is to go for Tactical glasses with prescription inserts. Not as expensive as you'd imagine. I got a pair of Viper tactical glasses for £25 from Combat South and prescription inserts cost as little as £40 depending on your eye sight. You then have the option (depending on game types and skirmish sites) of using a mesh lower piece or neoprene, if thats what floats your boat.

Hope that helps.

looks like a cool mask . would be hot tho i think but would keep you warm in the winter lol .

thanks for your advice guys really appreciated, i have just come across the save phace tactical masks and they look really good, especially with camo paintjobs, a bit on the expensive side though. (still need to get gun extra mags+battery etc) i think i might just go for a black bear full face mesh mask for now and then go from there.

in regards to the prescription add ons, i think i will go down the contact lens route soon so then i can wear whatever i want without worrying about the fit.

thanks again
