As the title says; is there a way to strip it down?

I'm wanting to remove the inner barrel extension, and it doesn't seem to want to unscrew like the TM version does so I wanted to know if anyone else knows how; save me potentially breaking it!

As far as I know, you can't. I couldn't when I had it, I had to cut it.
