Ok, so i bought a box of the cheap 30rnd mags to start me off, planning on switching them for metal ones as and when i can afford it. however, testing a few of them now i'm having real trouble getting consistent feed from them and everytime i remove a mag after firing i'm finding 2 or 3 bbs in the space above it, any suggestions?

You'll usually have a few drop out when you pull the mag out if that is what you are referring to.

Does the mag wobble in the mag well when it's in or is it firm?

no more than the metal hicap that i got with the gun does and i can't see any differences in size or shape but that doesn't misfeed like this

may be a problem with the nozzles not lining up properly between the mag and chamber and i can't think of an easy fix for that.

have a look at the top of the mag, do the holes line up together, and are they the same size? Also put the working metal and the lowcap next to each other. check around the top. Make sure the distance between the top lip and the lug below match up. if they do not then you will find that the lowcap will sit in the mag well, but there will be a small extra gap at the top. You can shave this down using a knife/file. If you hold the mags together you will see the difference in the catch part of the magazine, this is the issue.

I had this with some mags on my cyma. Some fitted some didn't feed right. When companring the two I founf a definate square edge to the one that worked and an angled edge to the one that didn't, a file of about 1mm of plastic and they fitted and fired fine.
