Single-Point Sling for M16

so after using my 3point sling alot in CQB i got seriously pissed off every time i switched shoulder and the sling would catch on the fire selector and put it on safe!!

so i was wondering if anyone could suggest a good single point sling for my M16A2

For a 20" barrel AR-15? That's a tricky one to be honest, how tall are you? Unless you're a bit of a giant your muzzle is going to be either hitting or dangerously close to the floor with a 1-point on a weapon that long when you let it hang (when using your sidearm for example).

First thing I'd look at is your sling points, do you have a full stock? Because those block the best attachment point for a 1-pt sling, i.e. just below the base of the buffer tube where it meets the lower receiver. You could rig up a loop there using some tightly wrapped paracord though.

its a full length M16A2, and im 6Ft 2", i can clip the 1 point onto the loop i created with the 3 point.

The guys in gen kill use bungee one point slings with their m16's, just clip it onto the sling mount under the stock

If you're not after an adaptable 1-2 point sling like the magpul designs then there's a lot of options out there for plain 1-pointers. If you really want top quality:

That's pretty much what a 'RS' 1-pt will cost, anything cheaper will be airsoft-only or ACM. I'd particularly recommend that one because the 2" seat-belt webbing they've used there will make a world of difference over a full day game, far far more comfortable.

If you particularly want the american-made gucci factor then check out the sling section on tactical-kit.co.uk, but the Warrior one is pretty much the best design of 1-pt you'll get.

Alternatively if you really want something mega gucci I can combine a Blue Force Gear VCAS padded sling with a magpul one for you to make something truly world class, but that'll cost about £120 so.. yeah definitely not for everybody.

I'd go with a single point sling mount - will make it sit higher on your chest. It just clamps around the end of the stock near the receiver - so no disassembly required

Didn't even know those existed to be honest, much better option than attaching it right at the butt end of the stock though. 1-pt sling hooks for collapsible stock/buffer tube combos always mount at the base of the tube up against the receiver for good reason, it's the best place by far to attach a single point sling. You'll spend a lot lot less time cleaning dirt out of your muzzle, shoulder transitions will be easier and you won't have so much sling just dangling around when you've got your rifle up in the aim.

As for the MS2/3, depends if he's after the 1-to-2 point adaptability. If that's something a person wants then the magpul series are the way to go, but they use very thin webbing which isn't comfortable for extended periods (by comparison), hence why I custom build my slings out of magpul MS's and other padded slings.

Good point, especially on something that long and heavy. I like an MS2 on my lighter weight M4 variants, but have started using a Chalker sling recently which I find very comfy but it's not to everyone's taste

Personally I'd recommend the USA Blue Force SOC C 1 Point sling - it's like 30 or 40 quid, so it's expensive but it you are rocking a molle assault vest / plate carrier rig like I am it is so worth it - the sling takes the wait off the shoulders because you can use the massive carabiner to attach it to molle loops at the back search on ebay or google for them: quality stuff!
