I guess the Glock is to pistols what the AK-47 is to rifles... almost. It's so damn iconic now-a-days.
Also, not mentioned in the article is how the Glock, like the SIG, also shows whether you have a round chambered or not as the little tab(?) to the rear of the ejection port that is flush or extruded (depending on whichever is the case).
