Scope and Bipod - What to get?

As I'm re-doing my L96, I figured it needs a new scope and bipod too.

I'm after a scope that meets the following:

- Variable zoom starting no higher than 5.

- 50mm objective lens.

- Comes with, or has an easily obtainable, sunshade.

- Preferably the range finder cross-hairs rather than mil-dot style.

- Isn't too expensive - £70 maximum, cheaper would be nice.

And for a bi-pod, I would really like one similar to the TM L96 bipod, but that fits the Well.

Otherwise, I was thinking a 6-9" Harris Bipod.

Any suggestions?

Whilst I can't comment on the scope, I do have a suggestion for the bipod.

Swiss Arms make a pretty decent bipod for £45-£55 (dependent on supplier), which is similar to the Harris style. You can clamp it to a rifle barrel, or swap the mounting for a RIS-style mount (both are included in the package).

It's stable, reliable and mine has worked really well for me.

Barrel mounted won't work as then the weight will be on the barrel, which pushes it up slightly, making it less accurate.

The main reason I'm looking for a new bipod is so I can lose the annoying, wobbly RIS at the front of the rifle.

Know if there are any bipods other than the Harris one that uses the same mounting lugs at the front?

No idea on bipod but to be honest I would advise against variable zoom scope.

Get a fixed zoom between 4x and 8x, ideally 6x and most importantly get a high intake diameter so it works better in lower light conditions.

If your like me the higher zoom settings make it harder to aim due to focus and distancing issues so you never use them and being able to see more easily on overcast days never hurts.

I got a pretty average 3-9x40 scope and to be honest I never use the zoom over 3 unless Im doing extreme long range and I have noticed it sometimes harder to focus and use on cloudy days or without strong sunlight..

If I had the choice now I'd look at a 5x or 6x with x50 or x60 intake. No idea if you can get them, where or what make is best but hope my advice helps a little

I think I'd get a big-ass über zoom scope but have it fixed to about 6x.

For the aesthetics if nothing else.

If you're making the rifle look like some sort of giant, bringers of death, then if you mount a poxy little scope on it, it'll look sh*t lol.

It does have the MilDot reticule though, and I do think I prefer the look of the "range finder" one as you called it, but it'll do the job just as well and MilDots can also be used to judge distance.
