Right just got some PMAGs and I was wondering what the removable cap on the bottom of the magazine is?

I am also guessing that the cap on the top is the dust cover?

R.e. the plate on the bottom, presuming you mean the one that slides off to the front of the mag when you press in the rectangular plunger in the middle of it? On the real thing that's just the bottom piece of the mag which holds the spring/feed platform inside, on the airsoft one it usually acts as a cover for the actual guts of the magazine and the allen screw that's used to retain said guts.

You can quickly and easily replace the stock base plates with ranger plates that are sold after-market and feature a grab loop/rubber bumper to aid in manipulation of the magazine during reloads. They just slide on and click in to place the exact same way as the supplied pieces.
