Hey,

I am new to the world of airsoft and really looking forward to getting started.

Served in the TA a few years ago and really looking forward to the mil-sim aspects of airsoft combined with the fact it seems like really good fun!!

My plan of action is to invest in my own gun and equipment but I will need to get three games under my belt first after having a good read of the guides on here.

I'm based in Glasgow so would love to hear recommendations of active and registered UKARA sites close to me as I am eager to get started. :)

I will be away camping this upcoming weekend and have found a registered Airsoft site about 60 miles away in Aberdeen - Bunker 31.

If I go and spend a day at this site and then play another two games at a site closer to home, will I still be able to get my UKARA registration with the two sites being miles apart?

Also wondered whether the rules were explained at the game days as I'm obviously a beginner and needs to get to grips with the rules etc.

Appreciate your input!

Have a look on You tube at Scoutthedoggie who makes a lot of Airsoft videos in Scotland. He films at different sites and it should give you an idea of whats available. Certainly some are in Glasgow.

I cant answer your UKARA question definitively but think it might be better to stick with a local site until you get your membership and on the database. Your number which goes on the database is usually your site membership number. Of course theres nothing to stop you playing elsewhere if the opportunity arises. Im just not sure it will count towards your three games in over two months for your UKARA.

Welcome to the forums mate, theres not much in Glasgow but there are some brillant sites in Scotland, POW for example is featured on a lot of Scout's videos and it looks epic.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Seems Airsoft Elite Glasgow is fairly close - may pop along there to earn my stripes!

Just debating purchasing a cheap two-tone gun and paying reduced prices for walk-on or whether to just pay the hire prices for three sessions.

I have all my own equipment aside from an actual gun, wonder whether they might discount if it's only a gun that I need?

I'd go and rent for at least one game to see if you actually enjoy airsoft mate, then if you're set on it get yourself a Two-tone, (doesn't have to be a cheap one) because as soon as you become UKARA registered you have a defence to manufacture a realistic imitation firearm (RIF- All black gun)

You can do that by either : Applying fairy power spray to painted areas, leaving it for 20 minutes and then wiping the paint off, repeat as neccesary. *

Or replacing the green parts with new parts.

* this is the cheapest option by far!

One of the benefits of renting guns for a while is that it gives you a chance to try different ones prior to buying your own..
