Newbie from Sheffield

Hello everybody, I'm new to both these forums and airsoft in general, I recently purchased my first gun - I went with a cheap pistol just for target shooting and getting started. I purchased a Double-Eagle Mark 23 SOCOM Mod 0. I Really love the gun, and shooting it.

However, I'm looking into getting into the sport side of things. I already know a UKARA certified arena in sheffield, so that's okay. I don't have that high of a budget. Being only 15. I'm looking into picking up a cm.023 mp5 aeg. It looks like a really cool gun. I don't have and can't get a UKARA Membership yet, for another few years, but I was wondering If I can rent primary gun at airsoft sites and if I can hire gear too? Should I take my cheap Pistol? Or just leave my simple springer at home?

Where are you looking at playing?

You will be looking at hiring at sites as you need to be Over 18 to purchase a 2 tone gun.

Take your pistol with you but make sure precautions are followed i.e in a gun bag etc...

Hey, Thanks for the reply.

I'm looking at playing at Brit-Tac "Sierra-Two" CQB in sheffield city centre. My parents purchased the 2 two tone pistol, and gifted it to me, with nothing in return. Is that Legal?

P.S what are people like with beginners at Sites? E.g Cheap weapons & gear etc.

Dont bother with Sierra 2 mate. I played there 3 times and the play is not the best and not to mention rude staff. Plus it is just stairs up and down with no point.

In terms of new guys you will be fine. I attended The Stan by myself with a 2 tone gun and they were more than welcoming, gear is gear some have everything some have nothing it is all each to there own so there is no laughing at someone with nothing etc....

As i say youll enjoy The Stan ALOT more

Okay mate, thanks alot for helping me. I really appreciate it. One more thing, If I took along my pistol, Would I be a able to rent a primary weapon?

As for masks, gear etc, What would I need to buy? Masks? Vests? Or is some of that not needed?

Another one from sunny *cough* Sheffield, Sheffield folk seem to be few and far between on these forums.

I've never actually played at Brit Tac, the fact it's entirely indoors always put me off, I like The Stan because it's a little urban, there's an outdoor section too. Though I'm mostly a Woodland area kinda guy, it's where I play the most.

Anyway, the sport needs newbies to keep growing, so if anyone slags you off for being new, just call them an old fart and tell someone about it lol. I think airsofters are probably the nicest people you'll meet, since there's all the laws around the sport it's important we act our age and don't make a hash of things otherwise we run the risk of getting it banned, so generally everyone is very helpful and good natured.

Best thing to do is to go and try it out, you'll pick stuff up the more you go, ask people about their kit if you're interested, 70% of the sport is about showing off lol so just ask and they'll probably jump at the thought of being able to boast to you about all their kit.

Most important thing is to have fun, that's what it's all about.
