New and Need Help!

Hi All,

As described I am a complete newbie to Airsoft!

I have just brought my first rifle (after several cheap pistols). I went with a cost effective (yes I know its cheap, but we all start somewhere) Sniper rifle the Well MB06 w/Scope and Bi-Pod.

First of all I am having some problems with the gun itself. When the gun is loaded, if you tilt the barrel down the BB's just fall out? I will contact the supplier on Monday, but if this is a common issue that you guys could help with would be really appreciated. (possibly the hop up? if so how would I alter this?)

Secondly (And probably most important)

I am now looking for a good site in the Midlands to play. I am a complete "n00b" so don't really know rules, etiquette or any particular kit that is either recommended or essential.

a key part of the "not knowing the rules" is; I am unsure on the rules of using 0.30 BB's in game play and as I have removed the "restricter" am I okay with a 450fps (rough guess).

What is the deal with painting over the "bright coloured" elements of the rifle?

1. Are you double cocking the gun? (cocking it, even though it is already cocked) as this can cause the extra bb to just roll out of the barrel.

Make sure the gun is empty, insert a magazine with one bb in it, cock it and see if it rolls out. If it does, then there may be a problem but I don't know what that would be, if not then Bob's your uncle you know what you were doing wrong.

2. When you arrive on site there is usually a safety briefing which outlines the sites rules, if not look on there website.

General etiquette is to just behave as you would anywhere else, don't be a nob, be polite, and make sure you call your hits! Even if you not sure, it's better to call hit and regen than ignore the fact you've been shot.

Essential pieces of kit are : Good quality boots with ankle support, and high quality eye protection! These are the two items you do NOT want to scrimp on, get the best you can afford as you only get one set of eyes mate and you will not be getting anywhere in a hurry if your feet are knackered!

Everything else you can get with time, seeing as you're using a sniper rifle, I'm assuming you don't have many magazines so these can just be stuffed in your pockets, no need for load bearing equipment yet.

Most sites chrono with 0.2 BB's, so make sure your gun is loaded with these at chrono. If it passes with 0.2, you'll be fine to use heavier bb's thereafter, depending on the sites rules as some restrict what weight of bb can be used.

Until you become UKARA registered, painting over your brightly coloured elements of your rifle is illegal mate. It is still illegal once you gain UKARA, but UKARA provides a defense which justifies the manufacture of an RIF by law. (Anyone feel free to step in and correct me here if I'm wrong)

Regarding UKARA take a read through the legal section of the forum and you should become familiar with how to gain UKARA membership.

Bear in mind some sights won't let you use a 450 fps rifle without knowing they can trust you with it, they will want to make sure you know and can judge MED's.

The site will check the fps before you play and if it is too high then you will need to adjust it (the site may do it for you). They may also test you to ensure you can judge the minimum firing distance for using a sniper (could be about 30 yards).

As stated, you can not paint over the orange sections but you can cover them in camo or black tape once you are at the site but remove the tape before leaving.

When people mention UKARA for buying RIFs or paining over a two-tone it just means that you must have a valid defence rather than actually register with UKARA. For UKARA registration you need to skirmish 3 times over not less than two months at an approved site - one with third party insurance. registering with UKARA just makes it easier for a seller to check that you hasve a valid defence rather than having to contact your local site.
