Moved to West London - Sniper or rifle?

Hey,

I have just moved to London and want to take up airsoft due to the large number of sites in the London, greater London area.

I really want to get an airsoft sniper rifle but not sure if that is a good option as alot of sites I'm looking at look like close quarter combat. Is it better to get a rifle, M4 or something or go down the sniper route? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Additionally, I am not on the UKARA database. Wolf Armouries offers a Hire-Purchase scheme. If I buy a gun from them under this scheme, they hold the gun on their premises and bring it along to the skirmish site for you each time I play. Then, when I have reached the criteria for your UKARA registration, I can simply take the gun home with me. Now, do I do this and buy a sniper rifle but not sure it would suit their skirmish site, or do I buy a gun from them and get the gun two toned and find a site that suits sniper rifles or just get a rifle instead.

Welcome to the forum!

Wolf use Bunker 51 as their skirmish site and it's a CQB site, so no sniper rifles allowed. That should make your choice a lot easier! :D

 
Also, I don't think snipers will be allowed because they're too powerful. Also, CQB is very tight and you're not going to be able to do much with a sniper rifle. I'd go with an M4 short barrel or something along the lines of that

Hey welcome. I'm a noob too and from West London, I like the idea of the HP from WolfArmouries, is that so you can use a normal RIF rather than a two tone or xtransparent?

 
I'd very heavily advise against getting a sniper in general until you're a lot more knowledgeable about them. Just some brief reading around these forums ought to help explain why, but to put it as short and simply as possible; they're only called sniper rifles because they're modelled off rifles that are used by snipers in real life. They do not perform like sniper rifles as you buy them, right out of the box. They are upgrade platforms. You will need to be tech savvy, have a lot of patience and money, as well as knowledge of what parts you'll need, to get a sniper to shoot half decently.

Go for an AEG to start with, they're far more versatile, you can mod it to shoot like a sniper if you like, once you've learned enough about how to go about doing it. You can mod it however you like. AEGs are great for keeping your options open. Snipers drastically limit your options; the sites you visit, the ranges you can shoot people from, you'll need a side arm for close range so you don't hurt anyone, you'll need upgrades for long range so you can hit anyone. They're just best left avoided until you've been playing at least a good 6 months. Honestly.

Yes that right. Buy buying through HP you do not need to go two tone or transparent. Down side is they keep the gun until you qualify but Im ok with that.

I did this with Wolf when I got my G&P. Time flew passed and before I knew it I had the gun at my house.

I'm going to be getting my gun from them I think. Which sites do they attend? I'm looking to play at the UCAP sites.

 
Yeah UCAP look amazing. Might get my gun as planned but get it two toned or transparent and then when qualified through playing at UCAP get my gun painted. I have no friends in airsoft so if anyone in the London area wants to head there I'm in. Live in west London and have my own car.

You'd be best to hire first, get your UKARA sorted and then think about your purchase.

A few of us go in London, Essex and Kent and I will be honest and say that we more than welcome someone with a car!!! As none of us have one! :o

Just checked with UCAP and they don't allow two-tone/clear guns, wrapped or otherwise, strange but true!
