JG BAR-10: ASPUK Parts

I'm going to be buying a JB BAR-10 and was researching different internal upgrades to purchase for it.

I know the popular brands from sniper rifle parts like Laylax, PDI etc but these are my questions (bear in mind I probably won't have a huge budget but I want to buy the necessary good quality stuff)

1) How good are they compared to other brands?

Unfortunately I was using this guide for help and forgot that it's from 2008 so I was presuming the upgrades for ~500FPS would only cost ~£100 ($170-ish) and that both sears would cost only $57 (£35) but now it costs £40 just for a PDI 1st Sear alone.

I can't comment on the aspuk parts directly simply relay all of the great feedback his stuff gets. As for upgrades. My jgbar10 has a new piston, spring and steel spring guide. The stock trigger has had two original parts replaced for steel parts from aspuk. Try the airsoft sniper forums there is a massive one that talks through the upgrades to a vsr or bar 10 as they are pretty much identical.its in the vsr forum at the bottom.

That guide seems to only talk about the most expensive upgrades. There are a ton of diy ones that are free or the cost of bits you have knocking about! When I'm not on my phone I'll link you to the airsoft sniper forum page I have in mind. Things like tdc hop mod. Drilling a hole above the hop arm and gluing/bonding a nut to the barrel so that pressure to the hop is applied directly above. Vsr/bar hop arms have a tendency to twist sending curving bbs. Polishing the barrel using a drill and metal polish. Home made barrel spacers (I used a4 paper wrapped around the barrel till it pressure fits into the barrel). filling the stock with your choice of sound dampening material. I used sofa foam and a break pad from a car in the butt of the stock to balance the rifle better.

The stuff is all pretty good, it's not on the same level as PDI or laylax stuff and the price reflects that. Solid internals though for a decent price.

I have seen some of those DIY upgrades and no doubt I will try doing them. I wasn't going to buy barrel spacers but I was just looking at buying the necessary kind of upgrades (that you can't really make yourself) so for example if I buying a more powerful spring I need to reinforce other components appropriately so they withstand it and last longer etc. I do need to learn how to do internal tech work though and it's quite embaressing because to be honest I've never done any upgrades or maintenance before, because I'm afraid that if I start taking apart my nice new gun I will break it or something and I don't have any cheap or old guns I could practice on and not worry about it. You know what I mean?

I'd say it's not as good as LayLax and PDi,but just at the same level as Action Army,even better in some respects.

I'd try get as much PDi parts in as possible,their cylinders and cylinder heads offer great seals. Barrels are second to none,seen o be ''the best'' by a lot of people. Their Raven barrels are phenomenal and are a bit cheaper than LayLax barrels. For the hop unit stick with the JG one,just drop a few shims near the arm to reduce movement or get a Dangerwerx arm off ASPUK. If you can get a stock Tokyo Marui one with a bucking that would be even better,they are really good coupled with a dangerwerx type A.

For a trigger mech,spring guide and piston go ASPUK customs,solid and reliable.

You can get PDi parts off Xfire in Japan,they also have free shipping until the 15th of January.

Check out AirsoftSniper forum,they have a great section on VSR rifles.the 'advanced VSR building guide' is fantastic and offers a lot of great mods.

You can also to the TDC mod,which is bypassing the stock adjustment unit,which can sometimes give unequal pressure on the arm,for a screw which goes down directly on the arm.

Which parts could I buy and upgrade it with first? So like if I got new shims I could install them and still go play with the gun, as opposed to if I bought a new powerful spring then I couldn't because the other parts wouldn't be good enough / compatible with it?

Thanks for the advice again, it is really really helpful! Like I said though I don't think I'll be getting the gun itself for a while anyway to be honest, I'm not really sure so I don't want to purchase any parts yet, XFire's free shipping sounds great but don't think I will be taking advantage of it yet.

Honestly it all depends on if I to go into town or whatever and actually look for a job :/ (not being lazy or anything but it's still easier said than done
