Hey guys newbie here but I was wondering if you guys could give me some help and advice. I got myself a CYMA M14 (SOCOM) and I want to put a sight on it. Nothing too fancy, just a red/green dot. I've had a browse and narrowed it down to two sights but my question is this; Should I pay and have the scope mount to have the sight further back, like this

...or do I just use the existing mounts further up the gun like this:

and if I do use these, will the iron sights on the gun obstruct my vision through the RDS?

These are the sights I am looking at

Or one with a laser

Any thoughts/opinions/advice welcome.

Cheers guys, Jim

The scope mount is better, deffo needed for magnified sights.

If you're on a budget why not just buy the sight, run it on the standard rails and when you have the cash get the rail.

The rail is pretty nice though as they have cut outs for the iron sights so they can still be used even with a scope attached.

Cheers, I was thinking that anyways, the scope mount is just over a tenner and to be honest they look a whole lot better with the mount further back.

Now I just gotta decide on the M2 or that other 30mm RDS with the tri rail mounts. How good are laser pointers, cant say I've seen too many in the few games I've played. Useful or a bit gimmicky

gimmicky.

health and safety prohibits you shining it at peoples faces, you can hardly see them in bright daylight and ones you can are usually a fair bit pricey.

Work well at night but thats about it.

Sold my PEQ-15 because it never got used. Apart from playing with cats :P

I figured that might be the case. Well thats narrowed it down a bit more. And the price of that laser will easily cover the cost of the scope mount. Cheers mate.

Tooo many scopes though!
