Grandfathers knives

Afternoon all,

I have an unusual one here, basically upon clearing out the house I've come across some unusual items, specifically knives.

One is an authentic Ghurka Khukri knife, the other appears to be a Bowie knife of some sort and a third smaller knife.

The blades need to be cleaned and the scabbard for the Khukri is ruined, however it's complete with the 2 smaller blades.

How would I go about selling these and would they even be worth anything?

The most insignificant looking thing, even old and rusty can turn out to be worth a fortune, trust me on this I have good experience with it.

Firstly DO NOT CLEAN ANYTHING! If you do have something of value the last thing a collector will want is for the item to have been cleaned because, with respect it's normally an amateur job and you will likely de-value the item immediately.

Khukri's aren't that valabel persae, BUT a specific period one from a specific theatre of war or belonging to a specific soldier or unit could change that.

A good place to start with tgat one would be the Ghurka Welfare Trust. There are people within that trust who would love to help with that.

As for the others hang on I'll look...

I think what you have there fella is a collectable tourists khukri which worth.. not a lot. The stag horn sheath knives are also very common and same goes for value.

Just my opinion but please ask around. See if your Grandad has anything in the loft with a swastika on it. If he does (and it's genuine) you could literally retire at an early age from the sale of something really quite small and seemingly insignificant.

The kukri is an indian tourist item still worth a bit but not as much as a true blue the ivory ones could have been made anywhere including an army engineers back room the style suggests not modern ie before 1960s so probably got them during his service

Added bonus, without provenance you won't get much, even from a collector. What's the length of the blade on the bowie, and have you got a photo of the spine (top flat edge)?
