Anyone got any experience with a Gbase ACOG 4x32 with red illumination? If so what is the reticle, eye relief and such like?

I had one and it was very good in all regards except that the ACOG reticle wasn't level, it sort of sat wonky at about 11 o'clock instead of 12.

I think a lot of people wouldn't be too bothered, but if you think about it, tilting the sight to hold the crosshairs flat is going to cause your shots to fly off to one side because of the hop, and trying to guess when the gun is precisely level is going to be hard to keep consistent from engagement to engagement if you've got to hold the sight askew to shoot straight. It messes with your perspective, especially in low light when you can't just walk your shots on target.

That said, there's a better chance the one you get will be flat and level. I'm not saying they'll all like that, just to be aware that it might be.

As for eye relief, you'll probably looking for about an inch or so. Close as hell, would be a better way of putting it.

 
Cheers guys, just making sure it's got the same sort of eye relief as my current acog as well as having the sort of reticule I want, which, if its like the one linked, is perfect

 
You know that as a rule of thumb, the higher the magnification, the nearer you have to put your eye ?

If you already have an x1 ACOG, the eye relief will be much shorter for the x4 model.

I have the G&P one which looks very similar to this, but I have the sight well back on the rail because of the short eye relief..

That's not true, Baz.

If you ever have a proper rifle scope then the eye relief tends to be more like 3 to 5 inches or so depending on the power.

As far as I understand it, it depends on the magnification of the final element and the size of the cone of light at the exit of the scope. If your rifle scope has a large final lens (larger than an ACOG at least) then your eye relief will be greater. More here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_relief

 
My current one is 4x, the real steel one I've used before had better eye relief than the copy if I remember correctly

 
I used to use a real one on the real steel weapon, I've only got a non illuminating copy for airsoft, not going to spend over a grand just on a sight, wouldn't be looking for a new one if i still had real steel :P

 
The one issued is the OS, whereas the airsoft clones are all based on the DR.

I doubt it makes much difference with regards to the eye relief though, the real one is always going to have the edge, that's why it's around the £2k mark whereas the airsoft clones are literally 10x cheaper.
