G&G Lee Enfield No.4

I'm still waiting for the WE Browning Hi-Power Mk3 that was supposed to be released in Feb and now maybe July ?

This definitely looks like a very nice bit of kit, or at least potentially. I've found myself contemplating my end of year project (joys of a brain that never bloody stops ticking over) and I'm considering a WE Thompson as the GBBR version looks like a ton of fun. This might be another option though with a much smaller margin for a headache once it materialises.

Edit: On a side note I'm not sure why the proposed clip option is limited to 7 rounds, it's my understanding that the real No.4 could hold 10 rounds?

I asked at SHOT show, apparently they can't get enough gas capacity in to the current faux clips.  There is also literally only room for those 7 BBs right now so I guess that area of the design is going to be getting more attention.

I'm generally waiting for them to release it and i'm bumped for it... but because it's G&G as we all know, i'm afraid that the G1 of this rifle will have the same problems that G1 K98k had when it released sometime in 2012, i.e pot metal in places where it shouldn't be.

I'm also afraid that internally it will be garbage as earlier mentioned, their K98k kinda is... i have both G&G and PPS K98k's and out of the two PPS one is much better internally (VSR compatibile in pretty much every aspect) and after giving it a new Maple Leaf hop-up, it now manages to outrange most springers where i play (1-3 fps difference between shots for the first ~35 BBs, tested), and manages to hit people up to +/- 80m.

While G&G Kar98k? Well... all i can say is, shoots too hot, and shoots too bad for the price. I had AEGs outrange it because hop-up is plain terrible.

Finish of the wood is amazing and the external quality is superb (on par with PPS, maybe better in some parts) as it's a G2 with most pot metal exchanged for steel.

All in all, G&G K98k is a nice wall hanger, while PPS K98k is the actual good rifle, not just by comparison.

Concluding this, all i can hope for is that they don't repeat their K98k mistakes and take after PPS K98k instead.

i contacted G&G on a seperate matter (ordering replacement feed lips for an SMC mag)  and asked about the lee enfield.

apparantly they have run into a licensing issue, so they do not have a release date.

i know i will definately be in line to buy one when it is finally announced though

The No4's design/shape must be too old to have any sort of patent apply and afaik nobody has anything like trademark license holding over the markings that the Royal small arms factories applied to Lee-Enfield type rifles.  Unless there's some aspect to the way the airsoft gun operates that's patented I can't really see what they mean there, unless Redwolf setup some shenanigans when they did theirs maybe?  Be interested to know what they meant specifically.

Agreed.

And their licencing issue may be down to the 7 round gas mags, as i remember reading a while back that they were having issues with them.

Either way i hope they resolve the issues and release such an iconic rifle

not surprised with the 7rd clip it looks insanely over complicated they might as well just stick to the full mag

Its a G&G gas rifle it will inevitably be gorgeous externally but way way too hot and impossible to regulate

With the S&T Enfield releasing now, I was wondering if anyone had info on the G&G No4, if it’s still even a thing?

Found this vid on YT. Seems they are still working on it surprisingly. Also they have moved the gas port to the buttstock.

Hmmm, S&T could have a rival ?

Haha yeah. Though i like that S&T went for the SMLE, while G&G are going for the No4. Hope they are still working on the No4 T sniper, that would be ideal for me.

Yeah, both iconic.  Not sure if I prefer spring or gas either

Advantage of gas is a much quieter, easier to pull and more realistic bolt action. However you may have problems in winter and have less rounds to hold, but shouldn't be unserviceable. Both have their positives and negatives. One of each i guess. I have the PPS gas Kar98K, which is an excellent rifle that really tuned me on to the idea of gas rifles.
