Whats the deal with ClockWise or CounterClockWise.

When you stand the gun on its stock, with the barrel sticking in the air, the threading is the opposite of the direction in which you turn the flashider or silencer to get it off.

So for example, my M4 twists CCW, like a bottle of pepsi or coke, meaning the threads to get a flashider back on there, must be CW.

Therefore, when looking at flashiders on say, WGCshop, I want the ones labelled "CW" or 14mm+ don't I?

If your FH screws on the normal way a screw thread should work, i.e. clockwise, then you buy a CW or 14mm+ FH.

Most AEGs however feature outer barrels where you screw on counter-clockwise, in which case you buy a CCW or 14mm- FH.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I do indeed screw-on my flashider clockwise, so a 14mm+/CW flashider it is!

I think I got a special needs M4 :/

G&P and Systema are 14mm+ CW. Almost all others are 14mm- CCW.

A word of caution....I recently bought a 2nd hand CW (+ve) Flash hider and the pitch of the threads were much finer than mine so it wouldn't fit. I think standard thread is 14 x 1 mm iirc

That's fairly unusual, normally the pitch, diameter and other characteristics of the thread are the same on just about all AEGs. Which brand was it and what kind of weapon was it for?
