Would you deal with the trader again (Yes / No): NO WAY!

Any other comments: He advertised an as new SHS motor on here, said still available when I PM'd him so agreed price £20, sent my paypal gifted, as it was a relatively small amount, which I sent 4th July, he confirmed received same day, said would post next day "hopefully". So far so good. I then contacted him on 10th by PM to check progress and he said (quote) "yeh buddy got it posted on tuesday (8th) matey, i know that royal mail are seriously slow sending from n.ireland. sorry buddy."

I'm pretty sure they ain't this slow. The motor has never arrived.

Contacted him via PM and his gmail addy on 23rd to ask if he had proof of posting or tracking and could chase Post Office. No motor or reply received from either as of today (31st).

Therefore it appears that at best the PO have lost it and he doesn't care, or at worst he's taken the cash and never posted it. Either way I'm out of pocket. YES I WAS STUPID to gift payment as it gives very little protection, however I will still notify Paypal of this once 28 days from posting are up. I trusted the guy having never had a problem with fellow 'softers, clearly this was misplaced and I won't make the mistake again.

I would clearly advise against dealing with this guy. If he resolves the issue or the motor turns up via Brazil or somewhere I WILL put a message up in this thread.

He hasn't been online since the 10th too, I think he's done a runner.

you never buy from people whos only posts have been them trying to sell stuff as its always suspicious.

Never gift people money via PayPal as you loose the buyer protection!

I may be completely wrong but when you gift someone money via paypal does it not tell you their name and address? If it does, find them on facebook and convince them to come up with a solution.

Or you know report it to PayPal or the Police, who can ask for that information from PayPal.

PayPal wont do anything, as you said - if you gift money then you get no protection. That's the reason why they charge a fee for normal transactions.

Not a chance whatsoever of the Police doing anything, even if for some reason they did get the details from PayPal and contacted the seller, "I sent it via royal mail", case closed.

I'd still report it, if he does this 5 times and everyone takes that attitude then he will continue to get away with it

That's why I'd use social media, if someone thinks they've gotten away with a scam and then they suddenly get confronted on facebook, where they're visible to friends and family, there's a good chance the person will panic and realize that it may be easier for them to come to a more reasonable agreement.

Cheers guys. I will still report him to PayPal so they know there's an issue with the guy's integrity, this can be done up to 6 months after the transaction, but I need to wait till next Tues to allow the full 28 days Royal Mail stipulate for delivery. Will look into social media, though direct contact with him will depend on his security settings. As said I have his Gmail address though he hasn't replied to the email I sent.

Sorry to hear this straffham - sucks I know. I really can't understand airsofters screwing other airsofters over such small amounts of money like this. If you still need a HT motor PM me and I'll sort you out buddy.

Cheers Pete, yeah you were my next port of call, will check if I need any other bits and drop you a line next day or 2, thanks mate.

On a dating site??! Lol! I'm not launching a manhunt for the guy, it's not worth the time over £20, just so long as the community are aware of my issues in dealing with him in case he pops up again. His PayPal addy has the same name, just in case he tries to "sell" more stuff under a different name.

well i wouldnt say harass him, cos that would be border line illegal but if he was to receive messages from yourself asking for you money back then im sure thats fine.

Yup not worth the hassle for a small amount plus any kickback grief etc......

Used to be on an old slightly dodgy site but if anyone got ripped or bad trade then the poor sod who ripped

a forum member would get things like $hitty nappies sent to them from all over the UK etc......

They would actually get a kick out this - ffs guys calm down and not let it get out hand I used to think

Some sod would have weeks of all sorts of $hit sent to him - and I mean that - no way did I ever let on

All of a sudden it gets out of hand and wouldn't know wtf was going on if I was out at work if retaliation etc....

Yup - good idea to just inform community and leave it at that....

Finally - I did actually suggest that buy/sell should maybe have say a min post req like say 100 or 200 posts

and/or 2 or 3 months to post stuff for sale - other places do this and gives a tiny bit of piece of mind perhaps
