That's about right, I tend to run a pistol as a secondary but use it most games. It gets a clean before it is put away.

Mine are purely secondary’s but still take the slide off and give it a wipe down and a squirt of oil some time over the following few days just to keep it clean more than anything.

I run twin pistols for CQB, once to twice a week.
You're supposed to clean them?

I did that for a bit in woodlands with a glock and a 1911. Glock stopped working as soon as it fell in mud and couldn't be recovered. 1911 just kept going all day. Don't really clean them on the game day, but day before I do.

I've got a couple of TMs that are more than a decade old, never been cleaned, don't need cleaning unless they drop in the muck.  There's a bit more of an argument to do it on some metal slide guns as the paint will gradually be worn away and deposit inside, mixing with any oil/grease and creating a small amount of gritty gunk over a long enough period.
