I've put a Lonex barrel and SHS plastic version of the Prowin rotary hop in my L119 build. Gamed it for the first time on Sunday and am very happy with the performance.
really depends, personally i'm a fan of pdi stuff, currently running a pdi barrel with their W hop and a pro-win hop chamber and it's getting excellent results.
however that's me in the relentless pursuit of accuracy, most standard hop chambers with a good hop rubber and even standard barrel can get pretty good results depending on your definition of good.
I have a metal prowin hop up already, but it doesn't seem to be doing very well with a steel madbull barrel and maple leaf bucking. I'm not sure if a pdi would solve the problem. I think the problem lies with the metal prowin itself. Or, maybe it is the barrel since adolf says his pdi works with his one. I'm tempted to go with the zci solution steveocee suggests because I kinda want to get away from the prowin entirely and try an entirely new solution.
the trick is getting the rubber thickness right to get a good seal, too tight and it'll pull the lips open as you install which makes an air leak, too loose and it'll just vent round.
perfect example is if you use a madbull hop unit with their included blue rubber- far too tight.
maple leaf rubbers are a good seal, although they tend to have extended feed lips which can cause real bad feeding issues. went with the w hop because i couldn't be bothered sanding them down and it also works nicely.
it's also worth checking the whole assembly sits up nice against the gearbox when installed, don't want the whole thing popping forward and causing a leak either.
