Service/Upgrade existing shell would in "theory" would eliminate/reduce possible issues

Some boxes will be ok some won't

crap like motor/grip angle, selector plate

how the box sits and aligns up with hop etc....

I'd choose the existing box if possible unless its cracked or knackered

There seems to be two types

1 of them is reinforced at back - so only 18 or 16:1 gears fit

(or need modding slightly)

another one is not reinforced at back so 13/12:1's will go straight in

Look at the inspection window, look down towards spur gear

if you see a ridge or shelf it is reinforced box

if no ridge etc... not reinforced, use whatever you like gears

Thick chunky silicone wiring & funny loop/ring motor connectors

qwirky grub screw trigger trolley stop

if that trolley stop is ok, then I would tend to stick with existing box

purely coz it should all work ok when refurb & refitted

Another box might work fine - no problem at all

or you could be sorting out seal issue & paper in magwell etc.....

if you got another box ready to go chuck it in and see

(you can refurb the old one as & when if needed)

I know what you mean mate, to be honest I believe it's one off g&p's old 6mm bearing boxes.

its just ££ if I add a nice fet and motor in there it gets real expensive really quickly

really tempted to get a cheap amoeba and put that box in (must confess that I really like ares efcs boxes)

yeah but a box on its own ain't cheap:

bloody hell - think I'd buy this:

actually the chav in me does like the HoneyBadger

but by a gun, nick the box swap over boxes & I'm getting carried away again...........

That is the thing with upgrades - where do you start & where do you stop

It is a nowt special gun to look at, just see what it needs

(probably not much and keep it down to basic service & grease up with a few parts if needed)

Up to you but think I'd mess with stuff on a different gun perhaps

just keep the old girl going I think

Yeah, I know the amoeba box is not cheap, but when you consider what your getting... it's good value from my point of view

and when you consider an amoeba motor would probably be around £50, suddenly getting that am-007 is fantastic value ... just have to wait for slightly better exchange rates lol
