Thing you have to remember is people usually don't upload just random acts of good sportsmanship. They are more willing to upload bad sportsmanship because that's more interesting to people than normal play.
But, in the context of airsoft, wearing that stuff is a good way to create some anonymity before an author is ready to say "here is me, on youtube". Its better than appearing outside the shot.
But that brings me to 2 other points - if you don't want to be "on youtube" then just don't be on Youtube, but a perfect example is the Chupacabra video review of the new FMA PEQ 15. The reviewer isn't on the video - there's no face shot, no voice or anything - but they're wearing gloves. Why just make life hard for yourself? (It's a very well made video by the way, check them out in the reviews section).
