hmm wonder why they call it the sportline version then, very odd! Now got the dilemma where I know that it's got a sh*tty gearbox but externally it seemed great.. Really nice polymer on it, almost up there with the RS Type 97b.

I was looking at a Tar when I was first getting into the hobby. There was two Ares, one was a sportline for about 160 and then there was the more expensive one for about 300+ which was constantly going out of stock. On reflection having heard of the problems with Ares im glad I stayed away.

ah yeah, not sure exactly what the difference is but I'm guessing it was the more expensive one I saw. In which case screw that, not paying £350 for a gun which jams on semi every 10 shots.

Got a weird arx-160 but I'm actually warming to it - plasticy BF4 gun with strange internals that I am thinking about some tweaks.

Odd looking mofo so might suit me I guess - end of day if owner likes their gun whatever it is, that is all that matters in the end

Expensive one had the quick change spring and better externals and gearbox if I remember right. You could also if you was very lucky pick one up with a Mars site.

Might think about it if a second hand one comes up then, the externals really are bloody nice on the better one.

always a little bit of a gamble with any non M4, AK or G36 type of gun. "bespoke" or "adapted" or "special" box or hop unit. yeah that means headache if they go tit up in my book but all the same its nice to get a gun that don't follow the heard so to speak. safer to stck tol the norm but can get a little boring I guess

I'm amazed G36s are so popular as to me the fugly lol

think that is why so many start with g36 hire gun and can't wait to get M4 or AK instead.

Oooh bitch bitch bitch - kidding G36 owners - I think the basic g36c is alright its the longer ones that don't float my boat but jusy my opinion - what do I know with the crap I end up buying

AUGs <3 (I need to get over this addiction, I have 2 now ffs and am considering making a proper A3 version).

I like the TAR 21 and if I can ever justify the cost then a Hephaestus "Project T" would be my choice!

I know Umarex do a sportline version as well (which knowing my luck is going to turn out to be Ares, but I never keep up with the brands these days) For me I'm drawn to their ARX 160 for some bizarre reason

careful of arx-160 - it has a mofo weird hop unit but all non "run of the mill" guns have weird stuff in them. UAR by aps is similar but crap for using other mags in its stubby magwell. UAR has a v3 box and not 101% if arx-160 has v2 or possible v3 but bother are quick spring change gearbox. The arx-160 sportsline in a non blowback but they did a blowback version but was a lot more for such a daft gimmick in my book - still plastic but blowback for about another $70 I think - pah...
