Spoke to HMRC and they said if it's not delivered and it hasn't got as far as customs themselves then it's being checked by the border force. Apparently the number of people trying to smuggle genuine gun bits in under the guise of airsoft parts is on the rise so they're being cautious. Still, that maybe buys them a few weeks to check it, but no longer. It seems really silly to have to wait so long, and they've not sent a letter to either party to say it's being destroy...
