I have been to 2 former Soviet Countries (Romania & Bulgaria) everyone lives in small apartments (we would call it a 2 bed appart but entire families live in them) a lot of buggers on the streets and not many well paying jobs, this is why so many come to the UK now. and I would presume your friend is from China

Some people are OK being ruled by a dictatorship or régime but most are not. One of many things that sound good but in practice it don't work

You are supposed to be equals but the poor are poorer and rich are richer in authority and if you know what's good for you you will shut your mouth and do as you are told/ordered

I agree i think the west put alot of pressure on communist countries which of course was a catalyst to their collapse

If you want to make a good essay, then both positive and negative need to be weighed up. There are lots of good things you can write about but evaluate it by saying that communism can lead to the rise of dictatorships

Oh, the argument of financial incentives of doing a job. Surely you would prefer doing a job that you enjoy and want to do rather than one you wouldn't. I'd rather be a surgeon than a trolley dolly. If you think it's unfair that you get the same amount as someone else despite being smarter or whatever, then communism isn't for you

Maybe read-up more about the theories of communism rather than how well it's done in reality. there's been just as many failed 'democratic' nations so not a good way to judge. As for it being more likely to lead to dictatorships I recommend watching 'The Dictator', especially the speech near the end where he voices all the benefits America could have if it became a dictatorship

Well, is Communism to blame for genocides/mass killings, or are the individuals that ordered them responsible? Communism would work at least better than it has done so far in the (increasingly unlikely) event that the political leader wasn't selfish and power-hungry. Those traits in a leader are the bane of any country, but affects a Communist one alot more.

Move to one and give it a go and let me know how you get on. I heard North Korea is nice this time of year

For every so-called communist country with a terrible track record of human-rights there's a so-called democracy with similar or worse. Regardless of the supposed type of government any country can be run as a dictatorship or mafia syndicate. In cold-war style the west tended to focus on the sins of the communist countries and not the democratic and i think that's a bias you need to cut through if you want to make a good report
