I sometimes cheat a bit by using tiny little G-clamps around the GB case instead of installing all the screws again and again and ruining the basement foundry pot metal when testing
Good little trick, I squeeze the f*ck out of it by hand and get happy with a little play.... We all know that play is gone when bolted up but getting a little better at rough idea of what "little" play is
Hopefully only need to bolt up once or twice with just gears in to test shimming and nice spins of gears etc.... But yeah still can take time to acheive best possible result
Buy another gearbox - or gun in my case. Gearbox - 1 minute to open BOOM - wtf !!! spring AR everywhere Hours / Days etc.. to put back together and not as easy as it looks to do it very well - meccanno for grown ups
