Warren uses the varmint because its a good basic gun. If you want to put a different gun in, he will do a kit without the donor gun for you.

Rocky Climb Dave has / has used an ASG rifle and he says they're good so I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Good shout from Russe though, idk if something like a TM VSR would be compatible too but great if it is.

Thinking about it I guess it would be easy enough to see how it goes with the internals and if there not up to scratch replacing them later. hmm...

I believe the varmint is a VSR clone, it just uses some non standard parts which means its not easy to upgrade. A VSR would fit in the kit but Warren uses the varmint as it's easy to get hold of cheaply, it shoots okay and is fairly reliable.
