Mainly interested in shooting and field craft aspects, free gear is just a plus, haha.

Marine cadets do a lot of field craft. Shame I found out about them too late :(

From what I hear about Army cadets (2 company's/platoons) they give you 1 uniform thats it. You can get loads from cadet direct!

One thing. I will say is although Army cadets can be great I've heard a fair few say its bad/boring and hardly any shooting and have swapped to air cadets and loved it! I joined with an ex army cadet and he says air cadets is hella lot better and another army cadet joined on Thursday. Hope this helps!

We have 4!!!

Excluding the DPMs I got for free at the start, pay £30 that you get back when you leave cadets for MTPs, working blues and best blues.

We have parade shoes (make that addicting click in the ground that makes me feel smart lol) and boots.

Ohh yeah i think i remember getting free camo's & a beret the rest you had to source your self

i mean..were going back over 10 years they were still using webbing from the flipping 50's which was horrendous

i did get a "free burgen" out of it lasted a few years till i managed to wedge my desktop computer into it to move it else where had to knife the bag to get it back out XD

I got 2 sets of DPM uniform, ear defenders, 58 pattern water bottle, a DPM Smock and brand new boot socks and fleece as well as beret and cap badge- we've since swapped to MTP and the newer versions of everything.

My mate is an air cadet, from what he's said, they do a lot less of the shooting, I might have a look at marine cadets though

I'd say the ACF was a batter preparation for a career in any part of the military. You get a lot of training which is the same as the real deal and handle weaponry which is almost the same- albeit the A2 is locked to semi automatic and the LSW is a little rare.

In the ATC you do fly, however it's only gliders and prop aircraft. Nothing similar to the RAF at all.

As well as this you only fly past 16 years of age whereas you can do most, if not all aspects of the ACF's tr...

ACF's training at any age providing you are at the right point in your training.

I've got a few mates who used to be in the Air Cadets and it was all classroom work, parading twice a week and wearing a uniform almost like something out of thunderbirds.

My air cadet mate told me they do the bleep test on the regular, the bleep test is evil.

PT nights usually depend on detachment. We usually have PT once a month, although it becomes less frequent in the autumn/winter when it's already dark before we get into the unit.

Sounds good so far, I'll have a look into my local (detachment?) and find out the details
