The junction box in my.shower unit basically caught on fire so i need to replace it but theres not enough cable left as some of it melted so i need to extend a cable to be able to reach the new junction box but i know how how to extend such a meaty cable.

She said strip it back and using a terminal block strip ( whichever size you need) you just thread the colours in each hole, put the corresponding ones from the other cable on the other side and insulate. She said being a shower unit though she'd reccomend replacing the whole cable.

if you get a chance to tell her, replacing the whole cable will be difficult as it goes behind a wall which i have access to but then to the roof where i cant get. so i was going to take the cable behind the wall and then do what she suggested and then thread back through so theres no new connection in the unit or shower area but i have given myself more cable to play with? cheers for helping mate
