Not sure Jay gets the whole, "potential offence" thing.

I often say stuff is "gay" but I don't mean it's homosexual, because that makes no sense.

I think the derogatory use of the word is as unrelated to the homosexual definition, as it is for the happy definition.

Just an example of the evolution of language.

Gay is just like a filler for stupid, shit, lame etc. Just has a more amusing sound.
