Kinda thinking the M249 because it looks like a monster and of the 2400 ammo capacity? Supposedly has really good range too.

Its bloody heavy.

Depends on your style of play, the ACR would have you running and gunning whereas the M249 would have you moving slowly and providing cover fire unless you're built like Black Death and have the arms to lug it around while sprinting to cover.

Weight isn't really an issue as I'm ex military and had to carry all my gear on patrols. I'm not really the run and gun type though, being ex military I'm more slow and steady with my decisions hence why I started airsoft sniping for three years.

I just need some advice on which would benefit me most? Maybe which one is better than the other? More durable, shoots more accurately, shoots further. I'm into the ACR because it looks pretty cool and uses M4/ M16 but...

Well you already have rifles so I'd say go for an LMG.

I'd say ACR. More maneuverable and I find support weapons quite gimmicky. You could probably get a drum mag in your ACR. That's just me though.

A&K SAW. A&K ACR is a pile of sh*t to be honest, very hit and miss and you need to do some work to get it shooting decently.

+1 to that ^

So you think the M249 would be best?

I guess UTJ is saying M249. I agree. Flex and Metile are saying M249.

I've heard mixed reviews about A&K. I think it's a good choice going for the M249. I think G&P do one too but it's around £550 compared to the £320 the A&K one is.

SAW.

It's the only choice.

Also - the A&K is absolutely fine (I have one). They can benefit from a TBB and a better hop rubber and the trigger switch WILL need to be replaced at some point but other than that, no worries.

Also - if you're worried about weight/maneuverability, get the M249 Para. With the stock collapsed it's no longer than an M4.

Weight isn't an issue, I carried more when I served so it'll be somewhat easier for me than to others.

However, what is better? A tightbore or a miracle barrel? Airsoft GI did a test and a 6.06 miracle barrel was shooting more accurately and further than a 6.01 tightbore. What do you recommend?

Airsoft_Mr B

Those tests were never very accurate from what I've heard, yet everyone at Airsoft GI seems to swear by the things. 6.01 tightbores are a pain because they are so tight, you have to clean it more frequently as the performance is affected more by any dust and sh*t that gets in there. The quality of the barrel matters more than the length or bore.

Miracle barrels are kind of shammy tbh. All of the test had totally different gearbox and hop up unit setups which also greatly effect accuracy. Added to the lack of concrete performance evidence they're expensive, you can buy a reknown Laylax or better yet,PDi barrel. Laylax are good, but their internal finish isn't as good as PDi. For a good barrel, you need to look more for straightness, bore quality and internal finish. PDi are still regarded as the top for those. Their 6.01, 6.03 and...

6.05 (hell, none of them are bad) are the best choices for PDi. Xfire.org sell them cheap.

So don't bother with a miracle barrel just get a PDI 6.01 or 6.03 barrel?
