Looking for something relatively cheap so I can spend the other half on upgrading it a bit

ARES don't make very good guns AFAIK. Would rather recommend many other guns if you're looking at an AR-15 platform rifle.

Well I've always steered away from AR15 type rifles, my SCAR is my pride and joy, but I guess since I've always steered away from the I now have the urge to own one :/ with a few internal upgrades, could the ares be okay? It looks to have a lot of new interesting features that I like the look of

I've heard that its a nice gun. If upgraded, it could be great

From what I know Ares aren't the most reliable.. your best bet is rather than spend half upgrading buy a good base gun and upgrade as you go along
