If it were true, I wouldn't be surprised.

True,It's the same in Ukraine. Airsoft laws are more or less not enforced by the useless government,so the community sets the standards. Guns are pretty tricked out in Ukraine,I rarely see stock guns being used, aside from ACM rentals which fall short of any performance. The tuned gun apporach is pretty popular with the lads I've played and spoken with.

Maybe that's what those 'defence forces' are using in Crimea then - they are all strikeball players :) still can't believe 800 FPS though - even if I have known about if for a while now. I wonder if they have any CQC sites where they allow mad FPS too? And we think it hurts at 350!

It depends on which team organised the games. Airsoft in eastern europe isn't like the Uk with dedicated sites,It's mnore of a team hosting a game on some land which was rented or leased for one or two games. Rules entirely depend on who's hosting, some hosts like super high FPS while others like to be more sensible. For dedicated CQC most guys keep it around 350.

Also, the high powered guys really like to use .43s,however I've yet to hear of a nutter using 6mm steel...

There's some Russian news report on YouTube and it looks like they're using lead or metal pellets.
