Looking for something a bit different to the M16, more suitable for CQB, but without me having to buy a load more magazines.

SCAR-L CQC, F2000, TAR-21 (if you can get a decent one), AUG....

Why not an M4 just out of interest?

Don't Augs have proprietary mags?

L85, pdr also take stanags

I could get an M4 variant, and probably will in the end, but just looking at something different.

Fair do's. I could be wrong about the AUG, never really got to grips with one and assumed it was a stanag!

I know where you're coming from, the M4 is incredibly common, but of course that means there's loads more bits available for it to make it your own.

use a p90 with an m4 adapter

AUG uses proprietary mags, the only F2000's worth bothering with (G&G) are hit and miss (have owned 3, only 1 ever worked), L85 could come under this as well, and the TAR, only bother if you like spending twice its original cost a replacing the internals. Oh and P90's with M4 mags? Burn it in hell :P

Magpul PDR or FN F2000

The PDR is...weird. Had a go with one. Feels worse than a P90 in my hands, but that's just me. Clever little design though.

L85, are STANAG compatible, its all I use in mine, although I have got one VN mag and it looks ok.

The PDR's only use magpul type mags. You can't use them with normal m4 mags.

Normal mags and magpul mags are the same in terms of fitment, there's no reason why they shouldn't work
