For one in REALLY good nick (under 30k miles) you're looking to spend £33,000+, for one in need of some TLC they start at £12000 - definitely a bargain!

Thats about £30,000 less that I was expecting- certainly a more interesting option that a GTI that's for sure.

Those prices will go up year on year though, there's only 6500 of them working/serviceable/in salvageable condition worldwide and they're highly sought-after by all accounts!
