I love thailand! Get down to phuket and phi phi islands.

phuket was beautiful back in the 80's but i hear it's so flooded with tourists now that u cant actually enjoy it as simple beautiful nature anymore - try to get off the beaten track a bit - just put ur main valuables safe and take a small amount of cash / just in case / but Thais really are so nice that u'll be less likely to get robbed the further u get from westerners/tourist trade
