Dont think you can sign up for that specifically though, if you aren't good enough you'd be stuck in as an officer for however many years in another regiment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you might be assigned a different role if you did sign up for the Air corps, depending on your skills.

keeping my options open:

If i don't get into the AC's ill more than likely try from an paratrooper/ infantry officer role and try and apply for a sniper role later on :D

bubble buster inbound!!! 50-60k in the AAC is top-whack wages... Major and above.

Also, officers are not snipers, ever. If you want to be a sniper, join as a private and hope you're a good enough shot to make it (airsoft is not a good indication of this).

CaptainDumbass
CaptainDumbass

If you're intending to join the army to do a specific job, expect to be disappointed (unless that job is very broad, e.g. medic, logistic...

Also, the army air corp is the only one of the services you don't have to be an officer to be a pilot, if Uni doesn't sound like your thing!

That said, if you do become an officer, you get paid a bit more and have better promotion chances if you have a degree

jcheeseright

hmm, true and not... in the AAC SNCOs can become pilots but it's a good 10 years worth of not being a pilot before you can do that, additionally Royal Marine senior NCOs can become pilots also. Promotion as a graduate joining as an officer is in theory no quicker than as someone with just A-Levels, graduates will be promoted to OF2 on completion of IOT (initial officer training) and non graduates will have to wait, but promotion to OF2 is automatic anyway and it's a 7 year MINIMUM wa...
