I have the cyma glock g18c aep, great little gun, have a look in the review section for my review :)

Cool, thanks sp00n, I was thinking it would be easier overall for me to just have aeg's means I dont need to mess around with gas etc

exactly, don't get me wrong, the FPS on a AEP is low compared to a gas pistol, but in my mind the benefits out weigh the negatives

Ok but much better off with a GBB one

Not when it comes to shelling out for gas.

That's the only downside but its only £10 every 2 if 3 months, if that, with propane its even cheaper. Aeps are good for the money but put up against a decent gbb they fall short. If they didn't most serious airsofters would use aeps.

There's nothing wrong with them per say if you have a low budget but if you can afford a gas equivalent from a good brand then you'd be wasting your time with an Aep, the only advantage to them is not having to buy gas which can be boug...

Bought cheaply anyway.

you forgot the other downsides of gbb, temperature (in winter they dont work too good), extra maintenance (model depending), leaky mags. and as for falling short, how so? yeah the FPS isnt that good, but TM aeg's aren't that high but are considered excellent none the less ;) . the advantages to GBB is higher fps, and a realistic action (cocking and firing etc)

Good gbbs work in relatively low temperatures, yes cool down is more severe but still usable (and more fun). maintenance is hardly an issue, it takes less than a minute, leaky mags? only if you cant look after them, again piece of cake to fix anyway. By falling short I mean they won't match a decent gbb pistol in terms of performance, feel or as you said realism.

for the money they're not bad, don't get me wrong but in the OP's situation he'd be better off not g...

etting a shotgun and using the money saved to buy a gbb over an aep. As I say aeps wouldn't be the minority if they really were substantially better than an alternative gbb especially considering the prices of each

i can honestly say that i have never held a real pistol (i dont think) so feel is kinda subjective to someone like me (having never felt the RS version). i have a we hi cappa 5.1 dragon ... having to remove the front sight/block when cleaning is a pain, then there is the re-sighting issue ... like i said maintenance is model dependent.

aep's are in the minority because (almost) everyone wants the blowback lol, but i found that the GBB action affects my aim, meaning first shot...
