well.... um... you will need to at least have the gearbox shell... this is what you do.... take off the grip and use a paper clip is small pliers to pull the anti reversal latch and viola

and yes thy jimmies, using force to detach the ARL from the bevel gear decompresses the string
I didn't have this issue with my AK project but I think flicking the Anti reversal latch decompresses it,I'm not 100% sure.
