I'm very sorry to hear that. The problem isn't just "here", this is rife on all sales sites, and airsoft in particular. Please don't feel too bad, the successful scammers are really good at this.
The guy from the police station said that he will request his details from his bank and will get hold of him, don’t care about the money just hope he gets what he deserves.
I'm even more sorry to say that it's almost certain that nothing will happen to the crook. There's a bloke in Ireland, Steven/Stephen Glennie who's essentially a professional scammer, with a criminal record, and even he gets away with it over and over and over again.
Perhaps worth posting up the conversation for transparency and so people can see the time scale. When did this all take place? How long has the seller been incommunicado ?
You've had no messages since Tuesday right? I think 3 days is probably a little bit premature to go to the Police, but on the surface it does seem like he's taken the money and run sadly (hasn't logged in since Tuesday). However everyone has their own interpretation of a "speedy dispatch" so you might hear from him over the weekend.
Can I ask what made you send it via bank transfer? Did he offer you a lower price? You have his email or phone number?
I assume you gave your address? Looks like you only gave them 48hrs to post before accusing them of being a scammer? I'm not saying they're not and they certainly should have given you an update by now, but I know first-hand how annoying it is to get constant chasing messages even the next morning, when the buyer only paid around 9pm the night before.
),ok man I’ll give him couple of months, maybe he will send the item. He had a story saying someone scam him through PayPal and only wanted bank transfer,he was looking ok not like pushy scammers,so long story short I fall for that.Don”t have his details, only bank account and the conversation here. All with police since yesterday.
must say 3 days seems a tad quick to be jumping to contacting police?
maybe it's just me but i'd give it at least a week of no contact, some folk just don't come online all that often.
granted it's poor form to not at least try and maintain some communication, or at least state reasonable expectations up front (eg "sorry i'm busy next couple of days but i'll get it posted friday) when you've just taken someone's hard-earned.
for sure though, any secondhand sale not conducted face to face with cash is a task for paypal to prevent exactly this.
