Do you have a picture of the hop unit? Are you sure it's designed for the newer style TM Glock's?

its advertised as such so should be, I think my glock is Gen.4, the pic below shows that the CC guide rod too big as is the original TM guide rod

Yeah nah...that's completely the wrong hop unit for this gun. That'll be your issue. I don't think Maple Leaf even make a new style TM Glock hop unit.

It's likely for a WE G19 but TM G19's and Gen.4 G17 are a completely different design. 
 

I would suggest trying to return/sell on the Maple Leaf unit and just using the stock.
