That would make two of us, I wouldn't say I babysit my RIFs too much but I generally avoid doing things I actively know are reducing the lifespan of parts. As with everything, if folks want to do it then go nuts. It's your money, but I've certainly heard more than one 'as if the cocking lever/tube broke, what a load of shit' in my time only to find myself questioning what outcome they were expecting.

@alxndrhll - Oh yeah there's always the caveat of "it's your money" and of course airsoft is a good deal about fun and immersion but it just seems weird that 1) People do it on AEG's 2) It's the first thing they ask about any new MP5 release.

It's all a preamble to safe zone/dead zone circle jerks and photo ops innit. Much like flinging mags half way around the planet with a fancy 'flick' reload you saw on Instagram, you're only ever doing it if folks are watching/it's being recorded.

Don't get me wrong, the image element of airsoft is as valid as any other part... but that's the part where HK slaps have their place.

to flip it on its head, how come manufacturers of mp5's don't construct the charging handles better knowing that folk will be abusing that specific element?

We all know the answer to that one. Why add cost for no widespread gain? Hell, most of the don't add cost for something that would be a widespread gain i.e. actual QC/QA.
