You think a v3 is bad try a v7....

Also magnets are your freind.

You can also try a magnet under he case.  Since they're non ferrous only the shafts of the various parts will be attracted.

Yea I dunno why I was trying to be cool saying I swore under my breath. My Mrs ran in because she thought I was repelling an intruder.

Ahhh very wise. See old brick head here would never of thought of that. Thanks fellas. Though, that gear box is never seeing the light of day again.

Oh yea while I got you fellas having a spot of trouble down at Elroy farm.

Ive managed to ruin some of that nice silver wiring from the motor to the mosfet in an AK V3. It’s basically split the wires causing a short and intermittent motor activity.

Anyone got any images of the best way to wire it in without nicking it.

I gave up and just unwound the trigger spring on my MP5K a fraction in order to reassemble it.  How the child slave labourer got it together in the first place is a total mystery.

where you get it trapped?

normally the key area is where it's passing the side of the reciever as it can jam up on the selector.

you mostly gotta be careful to be sure the wires are going to the back when sliding the gearbox in, it's almost always the sides is when it gets trapped.

Haha, I suppose it's different when you're earning rice for the fam. That trigger needs to go in.

So, originally it was the bit under the motor cage which has now been resolved (twas the pistol grip) then as it comes up the back where the spring guide rests at the rear. I'm now using 18awg silicone wire so need to be real careful with this stuff. Also, cant wait to go full auto on a cold day and get a nice warm palm. I'd show pictures but I saved what I could of nice wire and binned the rest.

honestly a lot of that kind of assembly is practice, you do get used to it eventually.

plus a box in good nick can help a lot, if its older/worn/has looser tolerances the trigger will just jump out whereas if its shiny and new it'll sit quiet.

routing once it gets to the receiver can be tricky, it depends on the brand. on e&l's there's a little relief cut in the rear trunnion that you can route wires through but YMMV depending on what brand you're working with.

I'll have a whirl tonight and may even just shrink wrap it to give it some rigidity. Taking it and the MP5 to an indoor range! Never done this before so looking forward to some perfect condition shooting.

Gonna get some funny looks as I'll be taking my plate carrier, helmet and the obligatory eye pro. Needs to get that sight zero'd in.

I can hand on heart say I have NEVER sworn under my breath when working on a gun in any way shape or form !
How ever screaming out swear words and making animal like sounds of pain whilst flinging all kinds of shit around the man cave ? EVERY fecking time ! ?‍♂️

One reason i want to do more GBBR is just so i dont have to touch a V2 gearbox again.

probably sworn more when a tiny spring pings off to never be seen again

RonLancs

Yea did that to a marshal in a safe zone. It was an ABS M249, racked the charging handle and ping! A microscopic spring was doing 350fps over the Narnian border. Safe to say I apologised profusely and was on my hands and knees searching for it.

“it’s alright mate don’t worry about it” *clenched teeth*

boys need urgent help, gearbox working fine outside the gun then when I put it in:

loosened motor, loosened screw on bottom of grip, wiring is absolutely fine… really don’t know what’s going on. Going to the range tomorrow.

Gear box keeps locking and motor intermittent. Looks like a f’d motor.
