Yeah especially as when it comes to getting rid further on down the line.

Only ‘high end’ guns i have or have ever had are TM recoils (since they’ve been out I’ve had 14 ?) and I’ve never thought about there value in a negative way ever , my train of thought is once it’s paid for there is no monetary value in it to be concerned about , there’s potential investment value (swap or sell it for something else) but no “ohh must be carful this cost XYZ !” Value to it . Way I see it I buy one of these so I don’t ever need to do anything to it to improve my enjoyment of the game , out of the box it’s the best you can get .

as to the possibility of breaking a valuable piece of kit ? as long as you don’t act like a dick or you treat it like a ‘real’ gun then it’s unlikely anything should happen to it ?
as to spending your money ‘practically’ there shouldn’t be any connection between normal day to day spending and hobby spending , if you have to think “ooh do I spend XYZ on a new gun or do I use it to get a new tv/drill for work/new fridge/etc ?” then there is no question to be asked you just don’t get an expensive gun . If the money can’t for all intents and purposes be ‘chucked away’ you don’t spend it . Simple as .?

I get what you are saying with that but the problem im having is that I have quite a few hobbies and some of those are set to become my living with a bit of time and cash investment. It just feels like there are better places to be spending my money.

And also my view of the value of airsoft guns is heavily skewed because of what I normally buy. For example my tm 417 ngrs with 5 mags cost me £250. Because I bought broken and repaired it myself.

also since I buy broken, fix and re sell a lot I see airsoft guns more on the investment of money side. The svd is one of the few I bought for myself because I wanted it.

it's a very personal thing.

it's gonna be a niche item, hard to sell but should keep value pretty well for the right buyer if you're ok to wait.

probably as you say more that you paid a lot up front, i'd be hesistant to buy an expensive pew straight up, but perfectly happy to spend the same or even more building it myself.
