i swear he made a ham of removing the outer barrel just to trigger me.
you just hammer out the top cover pin, gets you the angle to get the first grub out, take the pressure off the second and it slides right out.
although in fairness i do agree with him on the pin, i'm kind of half-tempted to look into getting a wonder-pin type setup and drilling the barrel to allow it to be clamped/pinned in in a way that's removable.
