Not much you can do really. Swaps are THE most risky way of dealing with people. At least with a sale through paypal you have some protection. With a swap there is none if the other guy decides to ghost you.

Did you get a video of it working before the deal? Is the other person open to discussing the issue?

well thats the thing. I still have the rifle I was going to swap for this one. I currently have both so theres no real way he can ghost me without losing. Im waiting for him to reply to me but from what I can see this is a build defect. Someone has swapped out the nozzle and it only comes halfway into the hop unit when fully forward. 

I mean worst comes to worst ill send it back to him but that would still be a pain 

Oh well then a lucky escape. 

If he doesnt send some money to get it fixed, then tell him he has to pay for return postage as you do not want it and send it back. Send him vids of it not working and be polite throughout though, he does have your name and address after all  

These days I always push for an in person swap unless the other person is sending theirs first. Its surprising the number of people who are actually willing to take that risk. 

Good point, its not as described. Would be better off offloading it. I would push for postage costs though.

I am going to return it. Ive just found another issue with the trigger mech (if you put it on full auto and pull the trigger it fires a 6 second burst of full auto even when you arent holding the trigger) Im getting the feeling this is going to be far more trouble than its worth to do anything with. Its a real shame. ive wanted a full metal m14 ebr for ages and the body on this is lovely. 

Cut your losses, they guy was clearly trying it on.

If you really like it then ask for a partial monetary refund.  Would it be worth replacing the entire gearbox and trigger unit?

He claims its been in storage for a year and he got someone to put a new gearbox in it. Its unuseable at the moment. Also an interesting development with that full auto issue. He says this has no mosfet so something must be sticking pretty badly. Hes gonna take it back and have a look inside and try to fix it. Even if he does fix it im not taking it back again without him including some extra free stuff or something.
