it's ups is the problem, evike are perfectly fine as a shop but once it's out of their hands things go south fast.

although it does raise the question as to what various other companies are doing that prevent their parcels getting pulled by customs.....

Agreed UPS policy is that ANYTHING (even parts and mags) airsoft related needs a firearms declaration form which is just a pain in the arse.  The upside is that their tracking is pretty good and that the charges you need to pay are calculated accurately.  Just beware of their drivers trying to pull a fast one and say that charges haven't been paid and asking for payment on the doorstep.  Always have the receipt handy.  its a laborious process but once you have gone via them a few time you work the quirks out.

Mmm, I can't be doing with not knowing if you'll get stung for duty, VAT, and the UK handler double dipping by charging you for doing the job that they've already been paid to do.

The most infuriating one I've had was some Far Eastron seller over valuing a laptop backlight so that I got hit with all of the above, either in error or to increase their compo if it got lost.

@Adolf Hamster - This was just a drum mag and came from USPS - Parcel Force. As I say, no ill will towards them. Just annoying as I've ended up waiting nearly three months and paying more for an item I discovered in a UK shop just after ordering!

yeah i got stung with an f2000 hop unit and p226 barrel, the whole firearms declaration thing surprised me (given i don't import much) and was tempted to just write "is not gun" on it 10 times and send it back.

border force opened both that parcel, and once from ky with a bunch of dragonuv mags and needless to say quickly arrived at the conclusion they were not actual gun parts.....

I've never been asked for a firearms declaration and I've recently bought quad rail guards and barrels from them (for a MK12 and an M14). I agree that the customs/handling charges do stick in the throat but I only ever buy from them if it's something I just can't find elsewhere.

Importing from USA has always been more likely to get walloped with duty from Customs/ParcelForce than say even China/Hong Kong

(and nowt from EU as VAT paid in country it was shipped from)

Tried to order once from Evike but they was taking time to check UKARA & the actual order itself. A week went past, still processing order and Chrimbo was approaching so told them to forget it & just got money refunded

(smoothly cancelled & refunded I might add)

A shame, some stuff on their site is very tempting, but you tend to run the risk more on stuff being stopped by customs on a number of things from US, so you really need to weigh up your options & odds into your costings

(Or rather - just how badly you want/need that new accessory for your toy gun)

@Sitting Duck - Especially when considering the huge delay customs adds. This arrived in to The UK on 20th July.
