Another update.
I can do 3D printed helmet stands in the form of a Viking skull.
The original designer retails them in the US for about $100 plus postage.
They cost me not too dissimilar in one colour to print.
It costs me about £70 to print, which isn’t far off the $100 the OEM charges in...
Fair enough. As I said, I’ve built dozens of these gen5s with TTI hop units and never needed to file the hop unit or rail. Might be a QC tolerance in the newest batch of guarder rails as they’re caste not CNC.
it’s probably cheaper and easier to modify the hop unit rather than the rail mount.
I’d try fitting the hop unit without the slide or outer barrel, tapping the inner barrel with a mallet to force the hop unit into place. Doing that a few times will remove enough material to allow it to fit...

The Marui slides are made of ABS and similar composites… the deflection point of standard ABS (the temperature at which it starts to get soft) is around 85C…. So you’d have to be playing on Airsoft in the hottest place on earth to realistically get your kit close to those temperatures. You’d...
Hi all,
I’ve had a few messages over the last 2 weeks originating from AF-UK regarding 3D printing. So I thought I’d make a post to outline the service I offer. Saves me repeating myself a few times.
Firstly, I don’t do this as a business. What I charge is to cover my costs. I’m just one guy...
